Final Fantasy XI's producer Hiromichi Tanaka hinted at the possibility of a next-generation MMORPG in an interview with a Japanese news site. Tanaka mentioned that his development team may be working on a new title, which would be available on both the upcoming Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), and the next Microsoft OS, Windows Vista.
No other details about the game have been mentioned, although the intentional slip may be a sign that more details will emerge at the Electonics Entertainment Expo (E3) this May.
Square Enix's Final Fantasy XI has been entirely successful. The game has seen tremendous success on both the Sony PlayStation 2 and the PC platform since its initial release in 2003. This week, Square Enix released Treasures of Aht Urhgan, as well as a port of the game for the Microsoft Xbox 360 (which includes all three of the game's expansions.
